Below are some links that I use all the time. There is a lot of great information online but these sites are run by very dedicated people who love the hobby as much as I do. I appreciate all their hard work as it helps make my penny trips a little easier. Be sure to check them out.
TECNews.org – The Elongated Collectors which was founded in 1966. This is a non-profit organization that helps promote the hobby of creating and collected elongated coins. To join there is a nominal membership fee but it does include a quarterly newsletter, special elongated coins, and a large community of fellow collectors always willing to share their experiences and knowledge.
PennyCollector.com – Is really an amazing tool for anyone that collects pressed / elongated coins. There is a huge directory of coin machine locations for each state, as well as international locations. You are encouraged to contribute to each listing to help keep the database as up to date as possible. It includes pictures of the machines and pennies, the date someone last visited, and in most cases a detailed description of where the machine is located.
PressCoins.com – For anyone interested in pressed coins from the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida this is a must use website. They have listings of all active coins, special edition coins and all the locations of each machine. There is a blog they are constantly updating with information about new coins, retired coins or any machines that may have been taken off stage for repairs. They list all coins for each theme park, resort, mini-golf course and water parks. Anywhere there is a penny machine on the property they have it listed and documented.
ParkPennies.com – Another great resource for anyone that collects or is looking for information on pressed coins for the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim California. They have a news section listing all new coins, retired designs and even information about the international Disney Resort locations. There are lots of great pictures of each coin and the machines which have some great artwork on them. They also update a checklist that has all the active coins listed so you can take it with you to the park and mark them off as you collect them. Really great information available here.
